CARLISLE — Concord Historical Commission imposes demolition delay on 1606 Main Street, clears 13 Chestnut Street with conditions. The commission voted unanimously at its April 9 online meeting to declare the 1950s West Concord cape at 1606 Main Street "preferably preserved," triggering a one-year delay against developer Josh Naughton's demolition application, while separately clearing demolition of 13 Chestnut Street — a 1950 home built by Air Conditioned Homes, Inc. — on the condition that applicant Scott Hills of Hills Brothers Construction provide architectural drawings, photographs, and a property history for the town's special collections. Neighbor Alan Bogosian, a Planning Board member speaking privately, and abutter Gib Metcalf of 19 Damon Street both told commissioners that West Concord's stock of modest worker-housing-era homes is disappearing one teardown at a time.

Commission member Lauren Meyer, citing the town's draft historic preservation plan, moved that 1606 Main Street be found preferably preserved because the property conveys the history of the Damon Mill neighborhood; the vote was 5-0. The one-year delay does not permanently bar demolition.
