Burlington charter panel votes to rewrite town administrator removal process. The Burlington Government Restructuring Committee voted 8-0 by roll call to delete the existing removal section of its draft home-rule charter and replace it with language requiring "a vote of at least four members of the select board" acting under the administrator's employment contract, following comments from Town Counsel Lisa Mead. Members separately kept intact a current-bylaw provision barring anyone who held elected office in Burlington within the prior 24 months from becoming town administrator, arguing it guards against "the appearance of corruption." The committee also approved three backlogged sets of minutes, 9-0 and twice 7-0 with two abstentions, and heard that public informational sessions on the charter are set for October 13 through 15 ahead of a warrant-article deadline of October 27 for the planned January Special Town Meeting.
