Wakefield Begins Safety Work at Oak, Green, Greenwood Intersection
WAKEFIELD — Public works crews this week are improving safety and traffic flow at the intersection of Oak Street, Green Street and Greenwood Avenue, work that began July 13 and continues as the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library kept up a packed summer calendar and Wakefield's state senator helped push new limits on social media companies targeting young users.
TOWN HALL Crews began work July 13 at the Oak Street, Green Street and Greenwood Avenue intersection as part of a town project to improve safety and traffic flow at the junction, according to a Town of Wakefield News Flash. The work is expected to continue through the week.
COMMUNITY & ARTS Author Reyna Grande discussed her new memoir, "Migrant Heart: Essays About Things I Can't Forget," in a talk hosted by the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library on Thursday afternoon, part of the library's ongoing author series. Later Thursday evening, the library's Plaza Jazz series continued on the plaza with a performance by guitarist and composer Phil Sargent, the latest installment in its summer outdoor concert lineup — a series Wakefield Patch also covered this week.

COMING UP The library hosts a Beebe Walk & Talk through Breakheart Reservation on Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m., meeting at the reservation's Wakefield entrance on Hemlock Road. The Nahant Street Yard Waste Site is open to residents Saturday, July 18, and again Wednesday, July 22. The Town Council meets Monday, July 20, in a hybrid session via Zoom, followed Tuesday, July 21, by the Housing Trust, the Human Rights Commission and the School Committee's regular open session.
