Sudbury School Committee delays FY27 budget vote amid backlash over summer program cuts. The committee tabled action Wednesday night and will reconvene January 15 after Town Manager Andy and Finance Director Victor examine whether the town can help bridge the $126,000 cost of preserving some form of SMILE and EXPLORE for summer 2026. Superintendent Brad Crozier presented a package closing a $1.6 million gap through $464,000 in contract-settlement and retirement savings, a $141,000 one-time bridge for middle school enrollment positions, one EL reduction and three ESPA cuts.

Student Services Director Stephanie Durantz defended a return to a four-hour, four-day ESY model as "not a reduction in services." Business Administrator Don warned FY28 already projects a $733,000 gap against 3 percent town guidance.
