Sudbury School Committee elects Jessica McCready chair and Betsy Sues vice chair for 2026-27. The unanimous 5-0 votes came at the committee's May 18 reorganization meeting, following outgoing chair Karen Jones's nominations. Newly seated member Ellen DeFrancesco, a teacher, was named to the superintendent search subcommittee, the anti-hate task force, and as legislative liaison, while Julie Durgan-Sakri takes the MASC delegate seat and liaison roles to Lincoln-Sudbury and the LGBTQ+ PAC.

Interim Superintendent Annette Cavelle was formally thanked as she prepares to succeed departing Superintendent Brad Crozier. The committee added a July 6 workshop and Nov. 30 meeting to accommodate the FY28 budget cycle, and referred unresolved athletic and club fees back to the budget subcommittee after data showed three clubs — computer club, diversity club, and intramural spring volleyball — could fall below proposed 15-18 student minimums. Durgan-Sakri, addressing the recent no-confidence vote, said "it's painful and it should be" but urged the committee to "stand together as a team." Middle school math specialist Karen reported 92 percent of seventh graders earned a C-plus or higher in trimester one, up from 80 percent last year, after the pathway redesign.
