Sudbury disability commission unanimously backs $250,000 state grant for accessible Haskell Field paths. The Commission on Disability voted 4-0 May 26 to support Combined Facilities Director Sandra's Municipal ADA Improvement Grant application, which would fund circuit pathways around Haskell Field, new accessible parking off Hudson Road and Butler Road, a pavilion at Fairbank Community Center and connections to a planned multi-sport court. Sandra said the athletic fields are currently out of compliance with the ADA and the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board, a gap identified in the town's transition plan.

The town already holds $500,000 in Community Preservation Committee funds for the broader master plan, and the state grant would be the maximum $250,000 award. The Park and Recreation Commission and state Rep. Carmine Gentile have also agreed to submit support letters.

Commissioner Alicia said the loop would end situations where families "really can't get to" friends across grass fields. The application is due June 12.
