Sudbury Commission on Disability approves accessibility resolution for town meeting

Sudbury Commission on Disability advances Article 17 accessibility resolution to town meeting. The commission voted 4-0 Monday to approve a slide presentation for the non-binding resolution, modeled on a similar measure in Lexington, and to have consultant Sandra co-present with Chair Karen Jones. Members Cheryl Wallace, Bessie Strzok and Anika Hardy joined Jones in supporting the measure, which asks town boards to weigh accessibility at the planning stage across facilities, programs, public meetings and digital communications.

Strzok successfully proposed adding "neurodevelopmental" to the slide listing disability categories. Commissioners cited Haskell Fields pathways and the relocated holiday fair at Fairbank Community Center as examples. In a second unanimous vote, the commission authorized Jones to advertise four accessible-bike events at Broadacres on May 2, June 6, August 22 and September 19, run with All Out Adventures and funded this year by the Sudbury Foundation.
