Sudbury CPC recommends five projects totaling $1.16 million, holds four

SUDBURY — January 7, 2026 — Sudbury Community Preservation Committee approves $1.16M across five projects, tables fields and walkways for further review. Members voted unanimously to recommend $38,740 for Regional Housing Services Office dues, $49,800 for Hop Brook pond chemical treatment, $71,000 for Bruce Freeman Rail Trail art, $337,700 for the SMILE playground, $66,000 for Haskell Field bathroom renovations, and $600,000 for the Sudbury Housing Trust. The portfolio of applications exceeds this year's estimated revenue by roughly $545,000, but Chair Sherrill Cline said the town's $11.3 million undesignated CPA balance means "we shouldn't let the budget curtail the approval of the applications." Held for the Jan. 14 meeting: a $270,000 Mass Central Rail Trail walkways request, the Parkinson driveway item, $214,000 for Broad Acres/Featherland design, and $122,000 for Davis Field design. A four-member subcommittee will draft sunset-clause language.
