Regional schools adopt culture, climate framework

CARLISLE — Concord-Carlisle Regional School Committee adopts a data-driven school culture framework and reports major retiree health fund gains. The committee, joined by the Concord School Committee and including Carlisle's Lynette Kelleher and Brian Waterson, unanimously approved year-end transfers on the region's $40,384,952 fiscal 2026 budget and reported its OPEB retiree health trust rose to 70.7 percent funded, with assets growing from $11.7 million to $14.3 million. The committee also adopted a new Culture and Climate Framework and dissolved the working group that built it.
During public comment, Concord parent and Anthropic employee Brittany Horton asked the committee to add an "allow list" and family opt-in process for AI tools on student devices, saying "an allow list would flow devices only allow tools the district has already reviewed and approved." Former regional committee chair Robert Graham criticized the district's continued shorthand use of "CMS" instead of the school's official Ellen Garrison Building name. The Concord School Committee separately approved a $1,649-per-student eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. and Concord Public Schools' own $47,701,940 year-end budget.
