Belmont Warrant Committee re-elects Paul Rickter as chair and creates a new officer post. The committee unanimously elected Bill Anderson vice chair, Andrew Flamang to a newly created "report coordinator" role, and Sue Croy secretary, then welcomed several new members ahead of the November 16-18 Special Town Meeting. Town Chief Financial Officer Jeff reported Belmont retained its triple-A Moody's bond rating in August but flagged a reserve ratio near 27 percent against a 25 percent concern threshold and a long-term liability ratio of 216.3 percent.
Warrant Committee member and School Committee representative Meg Moriarty said the district is carrying forward more than $2 million in circuit breaker funds and warned that proposed federal cuts to the E-Rate program could shift nearly $100,000 in technology costs back to the local budget. "Belmont cannot function without you," Town Moderator Adam Dash told the committee. The preliminary fall warrant runs to about eight articles, including a stabilization fund transfer of roughly $3 million in free cash.
