Carlisle Cemetery Committee Unanimously Backs $850,000 Sleepy Hollow Expansion
Other Committee · Meeting of March 4, 2026
Carlisle Cemetery Committee unanimously backs $850,000 Sleepy Hollow expansion ahead of town meeting. The five-member panel voted 5-0 at its March 4 meeting to adopt a formal statement of support for the project, which is included in Article 11 of the upcoming town meeting warrant as part of a capital and debt exclusion article. Cemetery staff contact Aaron Colosco reported that the Board of Assessors approved a $50,000 distribution from the town's overlay account the previous evening to fund planning costs, reducing the need for additional debt financing.
The committee's statement noted that all existing cemetery sections have reached capacity and that lot sales are currently limited to as-needed purchases. Committee Chair Jeffrey Walton, participating remotely while recovering from surgery, called the overlay approval "a big gift" that avoids drawing down the cemetery fund itself.
