Bedford, MAPC to hold July 22 forum on old fire station's future

BEDFORD — The town and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council will hold a virtual public forum July 22 on what comes next for 55 The Great Road, the former fire station, as Bedford continues weighing options for the building.

TOWN HALL

The Select Board's office confirmed the virtual forum, which pairs MAPC staff with Town Manager's Office representatives to gather resident input on future use of 55 The Great Road. The site is listed among the town's active initiatives, with a dedicated "Fire Station Future Use Project" page linked from the town's homepage.

Separately, the Select Board and Town Manager's Office are promoting a Bedford Summer Biergarten on the Town Common, described as an afternoon of music, beer and food for the community.

Residents who use the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail should expect a detour near the Billerica town line. Billerica has closed that stretch of the trail temporarily while it builds its Yankee Doodle Bike Path, a two-year project starting at the Bedford town line.

COMING UP

The Taxation Aid Committee meets Monday, July 20. The Hanscom Field Advisory Commission meets Tuesday, July 21. The Bicycle Advisory Committee meets Wednesday, July 22.
