Zoning board continues Middlesex Turnpike sign case
Other Committee · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Burlington zoning board tells restaurant chain its sign plan is too much for one storefront. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 4-0 to continue a sign-permit hearing for Saravana Bhavan, branded HSB, at 90-92 Middlesex Turnpike to October 20, after members said the applicant's two proposed front signs exceeded the town's limits for a single building. General manager Ram Kumar and sign-company representative Yasmin Ali said the restaurant is combining two units behind one entrance; the board countered with a smaller-logo compromise modeled on a prior accommodation for Press Cafe.
"I'll write an email to my corporate, and I'll explain them the town of Burlington," Kumar said. The board separately continued a long-stalled variance case for 12 Sarah Street, whose applicant again did not appear, citing the state's approaching 100-day decision deadline, and approved its September 15 minutes 4-0.
