Stoneham School Building Committee resolves branding wall dispute
School Building Committee · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Stoneham School Building Committee settles branding wall dispute, reports LEED Gold. Members voted 9-1, with one abstention, to accept Perkins and Will's offer of 10 hydrangea trees and free furniture design and bidding assistance for Spartan Plaza in lieu of replacing the high school's disputed branding wall. Member Jeanne Craigie called the seven-plus-year project "our own odyssey" while welcoming the resolution.
Member Stephen O'Neill announced the completed school earned LEED Gold with 61 points, beating the state-required Silver threshold. The committee approved a $1,310,781.25 warrant covering Perkins and Will and Consigli Construction invoices, added $2,600 for dugout gates a fencing contract had omitted, and authorized staff to price a second snow-removal vehicle estimated near $75,000.
