Select Board renews accounting contract, School Committee adds member

Town News Brief _ · Meeting of August 11, 2026

Tyngsborough fire station survey ties public support to bringing down the cost. A town survey of 247 residents found nearly 85 percent say Tyngsborough needs a new fire station, but support drops unless "the cost came down," with the Fire Station Building Committee now reviewing options with its project designer ahead of a late-August update. The town separately continues early-stage talks on 100 Potash Hill Road as an alternate public safety complex site.

The Select Board voted to keep its outside accounting firm through November while eyeing a longer-term contract, after closing the prior fiscal year about $533,000 ahead of projected revenue. Michelle Joel was appointed to the Tyngsborough School Committee, filling the seat of longtime member Rob Mullen through next May's election. The town has also applied for a $1 million state grant to replace the Dunstable Road culvert near Redgate Road.
