Littleton DPW Director Cites Staffing Gaps, Seven Roads in Fall Paving Bid

Littleton DPW Director Steve Yonley detailed staffing shortfalls, a recycling change at the transfer station, and an active fall road paving program in an August 11 interview on the town's local podcast, 01460 On The Go. The transfer station consolidated most recyclables into a single stream this year, keeping cardboard separate, with Yonley citing the volume of online delivery packaging as the reason; the station serves roughly 1,750 sticker holders at $65 per annual sticker.

A bid is out for seven fall paving roads, and the Russell Street granite curb and sidewalk project is on schedule to finish by the August 28 contract deadline. Yonley said road mowing is behind schedule due to the staffing shortage, and that MassDOT and neighboring towns are pulling workers away from municipal positions by offering better benefits.
