Arlington Select Board trims high school parking permits and greenlights cable renewal talks. Town Manager James Feeney told the board a renewed staff parking program near Arlington High School will drop from 100 to 75 permits for 2026-2027, with 58 requests already filed. The board unanimously adopted a cable ascertainment report from outside counsel Attorney Mayer, finding low public awareness of ACMI programming and setting up renewal negotiations with Comcast, Verizon and Astound, whose licenses have expired or are expiring.
Member Diane Mahon spent much of the meeting proposing edits to a draft letter opposing elements of the MWRA's regional sewer overflow plan for Alewife Brook, including replacing "tunnel storage" language with "stormwater wetlands," saying "I feel more and more encouraged every month around this issue." No vote was taken on the MWRA letter. The board also proclaimed Hunger Action Day and National Service Dog Month and approved a Thrive Gourmet food vendor license.
