Select Board Awaits Tavern Group's Financial Records After Deadline
WESTON — The Select Board's ultimatum over the Josiah Smith Tavern lease reached its Monday, July 6 deadline this week, with residents awaiting word on whether tavern operators submitted required financial documents, while a Weston Road repaving project brought crews and traffic officers to town Wednesday and Thursday.

Wellesley Police Department officers were on hand to help manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the Weston Road paving project, which ran July 8-9, according to a Wellesley alert cited in a Google Alert digest.
The Weston Observer newsletter reported that the Select Board had sent a letter to the Friends of the Josiah Smith Tavern demanding submission of outstanding financial and other documents by Monday, July 6, or the town would move to terminate the lease agreement for the tavern's restaurant tenant, The Woods. As of the newsletter's writing, it remained unclear whether the group met that deadline; the Observer said it planned a fuller story on its website and in its next print edition.
The Weston Observer's podcast, "Above the Fold," also featured an interview with Town Manager Leon Gaumond about upcoming municipal projects and the challenges of communicating with the community, per the newsletter.
