North Reading school board backs $3.5 million Hood modular classroom plan for October Town Meeting. The School Committee voted 5-0 to send the debt-exclusion warrant article to an October 5 Town Meeting and a companion November ballot question, with officials calling it "the right move" after ruling out a full Massachusetts School Building Authority renovation. Business and Finance Director Connolly reported a clean fiscal 2026 closeout with a "zero balance" and just $10,465 in unpaid invoices, all since paid.
The board also gave a 5-0 first reading to a new PROTECT Act policy governing federal immigration enforcement on campus, adopted Superintendent Daly's four 2026-28 district goals, accepted an $81,792 PRISM literacy grant, and approved roughly $19,000 in student-program donations, including 60 donated guardian caps for the football program.
