Hopkinton library board seeks applicants for vacant trustee seat by Sept. 30

The Hopkinton Board of Library Trustees is seeking applicants for its one open seat, with the town aiming to fill the vacancy at a public meeting on Oct. 6.

TOWN HALL

The Board of Library Trustees has one vacancy, and the town is asking interested residents to apply through the online volunteer form by Sept. 30. The appointment, which would run until the May 2027 annual town election, is expected to be filled at the Oct. 6 public meeting. Separately, Hopkinton Parks and Recreation announced that the Hopkinton Basketball Association will take over the town's in-town and recreational basketball program this season, handling registration, team organization, scheduling and communication with families. The department, led by Director Jon Lewitus, is directing residents to the HBA's website for program details and registration.

SCHOOLS

Hopkinton Public Schools will be closed Sept. 21 across Marathon, Elmwood and Hopkins elementary schools, the Middle School and the High School in observance of Yom Kippur, according to the district calendar.

The Hopkinton Public Library has several programs on the calendar this week. "Your Health: Zip Code or DNA" runs Sept. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Betty Strong Room. Baby & Toddler Storytime and Drop-In CreatorSpace Hours for Teens follow Sept. 22, along with a virtual Parent/Caregiver Strategic Plan Focus Group that evening. Music and Movement and Service Dog Storytime are set for Sept. 23.

Hopkinton Public Schools has Picture Day at Marathon Elementary and districtwide on Sept. 24, along with Senior Parent Night from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Grade 7 Back to School Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the same evening.
