Health board presses consultant on Cherry Blossom

Board of Health · Meeting of October 6, 2026

Ashland Board of Health grills consultant over Cherry Blossom Restaurant's third pandemic-era closure. Health Director Raj said the restaurant, closed September 28 after roaches were found and reopened September 30 under a corrective agreement, now has until its December 31 permit expiration to prove compliance. Consultant White Kwan's October 4 report repeated violations inspector Tom had already confirmed were corrected, prompting a board member to say, "This is the third time since COVID that it's been closed." Tom detailed chronic lapses including undated prepared foods and a pan of raw chicken found on a trash receptacle, which owner Amy said she had "no clue" about.

The board also opened, but did not resolve, a discussion on requiring all future meetings in person after repeated Zoom disruptions. Members approved the consent agenda, including FY2027 budget reports, unanimously.
