Conservation panel accepts Cow Pond Brook Park design changes, closes hearing

Groton Conservation Commission clears the way to weigh in on the town's Cow Pond Brook Park project. Members voted unanimously to accept value-engineered design changes — including switching a parking lot from asphalt to gravel and reworking stormwater basins — and closed the hearing so the panel can formally support the project before it returns to town meeting. Separately, abutter Anthony Massero challenged a notice of intent for a driveway and roughly 1,340-foot water main extension at 162 Common Street, arguing the filing is "a segment of a broader project" that should be reviewed alongside a pending zoning variance for additional building lots.

That hearing, along with four other applications, was continued to August 25. Member Bruce Easom also pushed back on a proposed shed within a wetland buffer at 114 Radin Road and on a larger-than-grandfathered house proposed at 28 Mountain Lakes Trail. The commission approved two orders of conditions and about $535 in invoices.
