Stoneham Conservation Commission clears bank footbridge repair, stalls on nature school's Whip Hill bid. The board voted unanimously to accept a Department of Conservation and Recreation cleanup report for a Pond Street spill site and to issue a negative determination allowing Stoneham Bank, represented by Patrick Houghton, to replace footbridge decking at 80 Montvale Avenue, saying there would be "no disturbance 25 feet on either side." Mulberry School director Mary Saba asked to bring up to 20 students to Whip Hill one day a week this fall, calling it "our sort of field research day," but members said they need a written memorandum of understanding covering insurance, parking and headcount before voting. Separately, members said a Whip Hill fire alarm system, with a $32,000 balance owed after a $29,000 trust payment, has stalled because engineered plans were never filed with the building department, delaying an estimated $16,200 painting project.

The board approved minutes from its July 13 and July 20 meetings.
