Arlington Select Board triples overnight parking permit capacity to 300 after resident testimony on ticket burdens. The vote followed open forum testimony from Palmer Street resident Dale Duran, who described neighbors in shared tandem driveways racking up 14 tickets in a single week and paying $600 to $1,200 a year rather than the $365 annual permit fee. Treasurer Lynn Gallagher told the board only 14 of 175 permits remained.
The board, with member Stephen W. DeCourcey absent, also endorsed a redesigned Park Avenue, Wollaston Avenue and Paul Revere Road intersection eliminating several turns for safety, approved a $1 million interest-free MWRA bond for lead service line replacement, and adopted a pilot policy capping most board and commission appointees at two consecutive three-year terms across 10 town bodies. ACMI executive director Norm Cloud asked the board to preserve the station's "5 percent" cable-revenue funding share.
