Wilmington Schools Hire New Finance Director After Three-Round Search

WILMINGTON — June 24, 2026 — Wilmington School Committee unanimously appoints Christine Bourne as the district's next director of finance. The committee voted 7-0 Tuesday to hire Bourne, who brings experience from multiple Connecticut school districts, after a search that Superintendent-elect Anthony Poska said required roughly three rounds to complete. The committee also ratified a three-year contract with the food service employees bargaining unit, approved Policy JKAA on student restraint to meet a state compliance deadline before August 2026, and heard an extended update on the Doorman cell phone management application the district is targeting for September deployment — including confirmation that district attorneys had negotiated contract changes removing a mandatory arbitration clause and extending the municipal payment window to 30 days, and that the district has applied for a grant to cover Doorman's entire first-year cost. Outgoing Interim Superintendent Dr. Thompson, who commuted two to three hours each way during his tenure and will begin as superintendent in Middleborough, was recognized at the close of the meeting.
