Westford Keeps Centralized Preschool in All Building Plans

Westford School Committee locks in a centralized preschool model for every Robinson School building option under study. Superintendent Dr. Chew told the board districtwide enrollment fell by 67 students this year even as Crisafulli Elementary's third grade jumped to 131 students against a budgeted 111, prompting the district to add a sixth third-grade section.
"I don't think I personally would have supported knowing we were starting the year with sections of 26 kids," one member said of the budget shortfall. The committee also pulled a proposed Blanchard recycling club from its consent agenda over a roughly $735 stipend commitment for an initial five students, and unanimously approved Chew's 2026-2028 superintendent goals, newly amended to add a spring 2027 benchmark for family advisory groups. Assistant Superintendent Courtney Moran detailed a new districtwide Collaborative Data Meeting rollout, with secondary schools starting October 13.
