Westford closes town hall and library for Independence Day weekend

**Friday, July 3** — Town offices and the J.V. Fletcher Library are closed today in observance of Independence Day. The library's temporary location at 515 Groton Road will also be closed Saturday, July 4, as the town marks the 250th anniversary of Independence Day.

**Saturday, July 4** — Town offices remain closed for the Independence Day holiday. The Funktones are scheduled to perform a free, indoor July 4th concert from 6 to 9:30 p.m.; check the Westford Patch calendar at https://patch.com/massachusetts/westford for venue details.

**Tuesday, July 7** — The J.V. Fletcher Library hosts Farm Tales Storytime for children and families at the Roudenbush Community Center, third floor, and the Adult Nonfiction Book Club meets at the library's temporary location on Groton Road. Both events mark the library's return to programming after the long holiday weekend.

**Tuesday, July 7** — Forge Pond is scheduled to be treated with an aquatic treatment on Tuesday, July 7. The town advises that no one should swim in Forge Pond until Wednesday, July 8. The full notice is posted at https://www.westfordma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=2701.

**Wednesday, July 8** — The library's Farm on the Go program takes families to Good Pickin' Farm at 5 Gould Road from 10 a.m. to noon. Note that some registration slots are already full; check the library's events calendar at westfordlibrary.org for any remaining openings. The Middle Grade Book Club also meets at the temporary library location that day.

**Thursday, July 9** — The Adult Book Club meets at the library's temporary location at 515 Groton Road.

**Monday, July 6 through August 7** — The town is accepting applications for its Bow Hunting Season program, which opens September 1, 2026. Permits will be issued by August 14. Hunters interested in participating on Westford conservation lands can find the application at westfordma.gov.
