Wayland Conservation Commission Continues Two Development Hearings, Issues Three Compliance Certificates

WAYLAND — July 8, 2026 — Wayland Conservation Commission continues two wetlands permits and approves three compliance certificates at July 8 session. The commission voted unanimously on all matters, continuing the hearing for Matt O'Connor's proposed six-unit apartment project at 67A Loker Street to July 29 after Conservation Administrator Linda Hansen said the project needs additional riverfront restoration analysis — impervious coverage of 3,295 square feet within the riverfront zone may require two-to-one mitigation under state DEP standards. A residential case at 8 Carpenter Road was also continued to July 29 after Chair Sean P. Fair proposed a compromise directing applicant Steve Garofalo to add two replacement trees to his planting plan, short of the double-replacement standard the regulations call for when trees are removed without a permit; Hansen said she "would much rather see at least double the amount of trees." Certificates of Compliance were issued unanimously for 5 Lundy Lane conditioned on an updated as-built plan, for 17 Hazelbrook Lane conditioned on a site visit and an expanded stormwater operations-and-maintenance plan, and for the School Street Gas Main Replacement without conditions.
