Boxborough conservation board OKs playground redo, beaver bridge fix
Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Boxborough Conservation Commission clears playground fix, declares beaver bridge emergency. The board voted unanimously to issue a negative determination for replacement of playground equipment at Polara Field, presented by engineer William Murray of Places Associates, with work starting September 1. Members also unanimously declared an emergency over a beaver dam threatening the Hager Bridge behind the elementary school and authorized Conservation Agent Ian to sign a 10-day emergency certification.
A separate, more contested beaver dispute at Paddock Estates on Hill Road, involving a fire-suppression pond and two public water wells, was tabled pending written emergency findings from the fire department and Board of Health. "It's not our land, and it's Paddock's responsibility as the property owner to make that decision," Ian said. The board also let a 368 Hill Road owner swap stabilization wood chips for grass without a new filing.
