Wakefield Begins Safety Work At Oak-Green-Greenwood Intersection
WAKEFIELD — Crews began work July 13 to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection of Oak Street, Green Street and Greenwood Avenue, the town announced this week, one of several notices from Town Hall as Lucius Beebe Memorial Library rolled out summer author and concert programming.

Further detail on the project's scope and expected completion date was not immediately available.
The town also held a Fix-It Clinic on July 12, a community event where residents could bring broken household items — small electronics, furniture, clothing and textiles, eyeglasses and jewelry — to volunteers for free repair and advice.
COMMUNITY & ARTS Lucius Beebe Memorial Library continues its summer lineup this week. Bestselling author Reyna Grande discusses her new memoir, "Migrant Heart: Essays About Things I Can't Forget," in a virtual talk Thursday, July 16, at 2 p.m., with registration required for those who want to submit questions in advance. The library's "Plaza Jazz" series also returns that evening, with composer and performer Phil Sargent playing on the library plaza at 6 p.m. — a program a Wakefield Patch item on the summer concert series also covered this week.

COMING UP The library hosts a free "Beebe Walk & Talk" nature program at Breakheart Reservation's Wakefield entrance, 100 Hemlock Road, Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m. The Senior Center has a full slate Friday, July 17, including a 9 a.m. yoga class geared toward osteoporosis, an 11 a.m. Poms dance class and a field trip to York Beach; a Friday Zumba class that day was canceled after filling up. The Nahant Street Yard Waste Site is open Saturday, July 18, and Wednesday, July 22. Town Council meets Monday, July 20, hybrid via Zoom, and the Housing Trust, Human Rights Commission and School Committee each hold regular sessions Tuesday, July 21.
