Town Cancels Fireworks Show, Keeps Common Concert On Tonight
Tonight's Fourth of July-delayed fireworks show has been canceled, though the accompanying concert on the Common will go on as planned, the town announced, while Wakefield Rotary installed new club leadership for the coming year, according to a Patch report.

The town's News Flash confirmed that tonight's fireworks show has been canceled, but the concert on the Common will still take place at 7 p.m., featuring the Buckley Brothers Band and Dan Clark, the Singing Trooper. Residents are encouraged to attend the concert despite the fireworks cancellation.
Separately, the town continues to urge residents to take precautions amid an extreme heat warning issued by the National Weather Service that began earlier this week. The Nahant Street Yard Waste Site remains open on its regular Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday schedule for residents needing to dispose of yard debris.
Residents looking to get broken household items repaired can bring small electronics, furniture, clothing, textiles, eyeglasses and jewelry to a Fix-It Clinic scheduled for July 12, a free community event offering repair advice.

The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library's Plaza Jazz series continues Thursday, July 9 at 6 p.m. with a performance by Annie & the Fur Trappers on the library plaza; INspire Cafe will sell snacks and refreshments during the show.
The library's Crafty Crochet & Knitting Club meets Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m. in the lecture hall for residents interested in knitting, embroidery and crocheting. Looking ahead, the library will host an author talk with Karin Slaughter on July 14 at 7 p.m., a virtual event centered on her North Falls book series, with registration required for those wishing to submit questions.
