Sudbury's SMILE Mass Wins FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund Grant

Sudbury-based SMILE Mass has been selected as one of only 27 nonprofits worldwide to receive a FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund grant, the day's sharpest piece of news as the town also heads into a holiday-shortened week.

The Sudbury Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day, the town announced June 29. Residents should plan accordingly for waste and recycling drop-off around the holiday.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Sudbury Senior Center kicks off Summer I fitness registration today, June 29, for Sudbury residents; non-residents may register starting Tuesday, June 30. Fitness classes under the Summer I session begin the week of July 6. Registration for non-fitness activities and events opens to Sudbury residents on Wednesday, July 1, and to non-residents on Thursday, July 2. The center's summer hours are in effect through September 30: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
