Sudbury's Lower Feely Field goes offline until fall 2027 as a turf renovation project gets underway.

SUDBURY -- Town officials updated residents this week on two athletic facility projects, while Sudbury Youth Soccer ran a camp session during the period.

TOWN -- At the Aug. 11 Select Board meeting, Town Manager Andy Sheehan said the Lower Feely Field renovation project began this week and will take a couple of months to complete. After that, the field will sit unused until fall 2027 so the new turf can get established and hardy enough to withstand play. Separately, the Haskell Playground and Bathroom Renovation Project has been delayed by the availability of materials; the town now expects to wrap up that project this fall.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Sudbury Youth Soccer Association held a Soccer Skills Camp Aug. 10-14, according to the club's website.

COMMUNITY -- The Council on Aging, meeting Aug. 10, discussed recreation programming at the Fairbank Community Center, including efforts to bring pickleball and pool activities to seniors through Park and Recreation. Members also noted that past cornhole clinics organized at the center drew little turnout, and that the property's horseshoes setup has gone largely unused.
