State Budget Delivers Funding Boost For Reading Council On Aging
A newly approved $63.4 billion state budget for Fiscal Year 2027 includes funding assistance for the Reading Council on Aging, according to a Patch report, while state Representative Brad Jones canceled his July 10 district office hours, with monthly hours set to resume in August.

The Town Manager's office continues to roll out changes to trash and recycling services, part of a broader shift toward an automated collection program described on the town website. Town Manager Jayne Wellman also discussed the changes in a new episode of "Reading Between the Lines," the Town Hall and RCTV podcast.
Separately, the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will conduct truck-mounted aerosol spraying across Reading this summer, with a published schedule available through the town. The town is also collecting summer photo submissions from residents for use on its website and social media channels.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The town has launched the Let Grow Summer Independence Challenge, a free community program encouraging children to take on more independent activities over the summer, according to the town's News Flash announcements. Disability Pride Month runs through July 31, with the town's calendar also flagging International Non-Binary People Day and Mad Pride Day on July 14, and Nelson Mandela International Day on July 18.
