Reading Launches Let Grow Summer Independence Challenge For Kids
The Let Grow Summer Independence Challenge, a free program encouraging children to take on more independence this summer, is coming to Reading, the town announced this week, alongside a townwide mosquito-spraying push and a slate of four board meetings set for next Tuesday.

The Let Grow independence challenge, described by the town as a free community program, invites Reading families to let kids try everyday tasks on their own — from walking to a store to briefly staying home alone — building confidence over the summer. The program is being promoted through the town's website alongside other community-engagement efforts.
The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will use a truck-mounted aerosol sprayer to control mosquito populations around Reading through the summer, the town said, and has posted a spraying schedule on its website.
Town Hall is also asking amateur photographers to submit pictures of Reading for a refresh of the town's website and social media accounts.
