Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of May 11, 2026

GROTON — The Groton Community Preservation Committee said the town is still violating a 2009 state rule requiring seasonal closure of a road near the Cow Pond Brook ball fields. Members called the town's inaction a "scofflaw" problem and warned the state could eventually force closure, cutting off field parking. They also recapped Town Meeting pushback on the Cow Pond Dam's rising repair cost, noting the town manager told voters no insurer would cover the dam, leaving the town liable for failure damage.

The committee finalized liaison assignments for nine Town Meeting-approved projects, approved a $100 invoice and a $273.69 Duck Pond aeration bill, and agreed to consider a deadline for future out-of-cycle grant applications after this year's dam request arrived with little review time.
