Newton Zoning Board Approves Walmart Fulfillment Center Under New Variance Law

Newton's Zoning Board of Appeals has cleared a 20,000-square-foot Walmart microfulfillment center in Auburndale, one of the first projects to move forward under the city's newly adopted variance law, Newton Patch reports. The approval comes as Mayor Marc Laredo separately moves to fill the city's top planning post.

The Newton Free Library has several programs on the calendar this week. On July 20, offerings include the Winnie-the-Pooh Escape Room for kids (9 a.m.-5 p.m.), an adult lecture titled "The Scoop on Solar Energy" (7-8 p.m.), Cookbook Club (7-8:30 p.m.) and Local History Office Hours (2-4 p.m.). On July 21, the library hosts two "Make Way for Storytime" sessions for kids at 10 and 11 a.m., followed by Summer Fun Club for ages six to nine at 6:30 p.m.
