NEWTON — More than 70 affordable apartments at Newton's newest residential development are now open for public lottery, and the Nonantum neighborhood's signature summer festival returns to the city this week, according to Patch reporting. At the Newton Free Library, the 2026 Summer Reading Program continues through Labor Day weekend alongside a full slate of drop-in programs.

The Newton Free Library's 2026 Summer Reading Program runs through September 4, open to kids, tweens, teens and adults. The library also continues its English Language Learning Program sessions this week, including conversation-practice drop-ins and opinion-sharing workshops, alongside Tech Time computer help sessions offered twice daily.
