Maynard Finance Committee Begins ATM Prep With Half the Articles Still Missing
MAYNARD — March 2, 2026 — Maynard Finance Committee begins Annual Town Meeting prep with roughly half of anticipated articles still unsubmitted. Chair Jillian Prendergast led the March 2 remote meeting, where members divided drafting responsibilities for up to 31 warrant articles and flagged a 13.2 percent increase in the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School minimum local contribution — pushing Maynard's share from approximately $1.082 million to $1.348 million — as a major budget driver. Free cash certification came in at roughly half of Town Administrator Greg's projection, with Campbell noting the gap could force late-stage reductions to the school budget. The committee voted 6-0 to approve minutes from two prior meetings and expressed skepticism about a town clerk proposal to move Annual Town Meeting two weeks earlier, with members warning that health insurance figures and state aid numbers rarely arrive in time even under the current schedule. Written recommendations are due April 15.
