Lexington Promotes New Textile Recycling Bin Partnership
Lexington town officials on Tuesday promoted a partnership with Bay State Textiles that gives residents dedicated bins for old clothing, shoes and linens, part of a broader push to divert waste from the trash stream as the town's extreme heat advisory continued through the week.
TOWN HALL
The town's News Flash highlighted a partnership with Bay State Textiles that provides designated collection bins exclusively for textiles, including clothing, shoes and household linens, giving residents a formal channel for responsible disposal outside the regular trash stream. The announcement comes as Lexington continues to roll out its LexSortSmart tool for waste and recycling guidance ahead of the September 1 start of new fees for special collection waste items.
The town's extreme heat advisory, first issued Monday, remains in effect through August 9, with officials continuing to urge residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and use cooling resources during the stretch of hot weather.
Town Hall also renewed its call for volunteers to serve on Lexington boards and committees, with applications due by Monday, August 31, for a range of current and upcoming openings.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The town calendar shows LexFarm's Walking Wednesdays continuing this week, part of a recurring summer series, while the 2026 Summer Concert Series returns Friday with Ben Rudnick & Friends performing as part of the town's ongoing outdoor concert lineup.
