Lexington Launches LexSortSmart Waste-Sorting Tool

LEXINGTON — The town rolled out LexSortSmart, a new online tool designed to walk residents through what belongs in the trash, recycling or compost bin, as Lexington keeps building toward a broader overhaul of its waste collection program set for summer 2027.

TOWN HALL The Department of Public Works introduced LexSortSmart this week, billing it as a one-stop resource for questions about collection and disposal rules in town. Town officials have said the tool is meant to cut down on sorting mistakes as Lexington works through several linked waste initiatives, including new fees for special collection items that take effect September 1 and the ongoing search for a modernized, cost-controlling collection model by 2027.

COMMUNITY & ARTS The town's Summer Concert Series continues Friday, August 14, with a performance by Kadak Chai, the latest act in the free outdoor series that has drawn crowds to town green space throughout the summer.
