Concord Weighs New Hate-Incident Tracking System
Concord officials are considering a new system for tracking reported hate incidents, according to a Patch report published this week, as the town also opened its Community Preservation Committee grant window and kept road crews working on five streets through mid-August.
TOWN HALL
The Community Preservation Committee is now accepting applications for Community Preservation Act funds supporting historic preservation, open space, recreation, and community housing. Applications are due Friday, Sept. 18, at noon.
The town's roadway contractor is continuing work this week, from Aug. 10 through Aug. 14, on Old Bedford Road, Bedford Street, Lowell Road, Sudbury Road, and Maple Street.
The town's Natural Resources Commission is seeking a volunteer for a vacancy on the Warner's Pond Management Committee, which works to improve the pond's ecological health and recreational capacity. Letters of interest are due by Aug. 21.
Separately, the town flagged a health advisory on cyclosporiasis, the gastrointestinal illness caused by the Cyclospora parasite, noting that while Massachusetts' case count remains typical for this time of year, the CDC has advised heightened awareness amid rising cases in multiple states.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Concord Free Public Library opened a new exhibition, "Celebrating the Art of Edward Waldo Emerson," on the first floor of the Main Library. Running July 30 through Sept. 10, the show features a rare selection of works by Emerson, son of Ralph Waldo Emerson, including several pieces on loan from private collections shown publicly for the first time, alongside paintings, sketchbooks, and his palette from the library's William Munroe Special Collections.
