Billerica Select Board approves $29 million in bonds after a consent-agenda fight over a Conservation Commission pick. Board member Rosa forced removal of the appointment from Monday's special meeting agenda, arguing it "was not even advertised" at the prior regular meeting and briefly threatened to break quorum before relenting. The board then voted 3-0 to approve a $29,035,000 general obligation bond covering the recreation center ($20,335,000), Rangeway Road sewer betterment ($4.8 million) and water tank towers ($3.9 million), plus a $7 million bond anticipation note for the North Billerica Fire Station maturing August 19.

The town treasurer reported 12 bidders on the general obligation bond, up from nine last year, calling it a strong result. Rosa said the disputed appointment could still be acted on "up until the 17th."
