Fox Hill Building Committee Approves $164,000 in Invoices, Hears Sustainability Briefing

BURLINGTON — May 19, 2026 — Burlington's Fox Hill School Building Committee cleared more than $164,000 in invoices and heard that the new elementary school is on track for LEED Gold certification and net-zero electricity potential. The committee voted 7-0 three times to approve invoices from design firm Danisco totaling approximately $78,400 for construction administration, geotechnical services, traffic studies, and wetlands consulting, along with a $86,017.50 invoice from owner's project manager Dorian Whittier. Sustainability presenter Vivian from Danisco confirmed the building's energy model measures exactly at the 25 EUI target required for MassSaves Tier One incentives and that the project meets the Massachusetts stretch energy code — unlocking additional MSBA reimbursements — with the rooftop and parking-lot solar canopies together projected to achieve net-zero electricity use. Construction manager Laura reported that structural steel fabricated in Canada is expected on site around mid-June, marking the transition to vertical construction, and that boulder removal and footing pours are ongoing along the academic and community wings.
