Dover-Sherborn School Committee reorganizes leadership, raises athletics cap and facility fees

School Committee · Meeting of June 9, 2026

SHERBORN — Dover-Sherborn Regional School Committee reorganizes, approves fee increases to close revenue gap. At the June 9 meeting in the Middle School Library, Superintendent Beth McCoy presided over the election of Jeff Cassidy as chair, Angie Johnson as vice chair, and a member identified as Mary as secretary. The committee voted unanimously to raise the athletics family participation cap from four sports to five, effective fiscal year 2027, a change the district's business official said could recover roughly $10,000 in annual revenue, with a further fee increase to $350 per athlete likely to follow in the FY2028 budget cycle.

The committee also approved a revised two-tier building and facility rental fee schedule distinguishing Dover-Sherborn town groups from outside organizations — raising Mudge Auditorium from a flat $45 per hour to $65 for town groups and $125 for non-town groups, setting turf and track use at $100 and $200 per hour respectively, and adding a $50-per-hour lights surcharge for use after 8 p.m. The district also disclosed a $6,500 federal single audit triggered by exceeding the federal grant expenditure threshold by roughly $45,000, primarily from final ESSER fund spending, with results to be reported in the fall.
