Conservation Commission approves Turkey Hill septic, defers Lakeshore Drive disputes

WAYLAND — January 28, 2026 — Wayland Conservation Commission approves Turkey Hill septic replacement and defers two contested Dudley Pond cases. The seven-member commission voted 7-0 Wednesday to issue an Order of Conditions for a shared innovative/alternative septic system serving 8, 9 and 10 Essex Street, where engineer Vito Colonna said the existing clay-pipe field is in failure and a 30-minute percolation rate forced an oversized design. Hearings on 108 Lakeshore Drive and 68 Lakeshore Drive — both involving unpermitted work near the pond — were continued to Feb. 11 and March 4 respectively. Vice Chair Shannon Fischer warned that approving after-the-fact work becomes "a cheat code" for owners who skip permits. Members also voted 7-0 to retain a $150 forfeited penalty from a 2010 case at 6 Old Tavern Road and to accept a long-unsigned Alice Drive conservation restriction. Administrator Linda Hansen reported a second DPW violation at the Route 20 landfill that destroyed priority habitat on MBTA property.
