Chelmsford Spring Festival Planned for Varney Park on May 2

CHELMSFORD — February 2, 2026 — Chelmsford's Vinyl Square committee advances plans for a May 2 community spring festival at Varney Park. The Vinyl Square Strategic Action Plan Committee voted 6-0 Monday to approve minutes from two prior meetings, then spent the bulk of the session hashing out logistics for the Chelmsford Spring Fest, a family-friendly event proposed for Varney Park with satellite programming at the McKay Library, the North Town Hall, and the fire station. Ben Duchesney, presenting with members Bill and Brian, said the group had shifted away from closing Vinyl Square streets in favor of the park site, and is eyeing breweries including Modern Roots and Navigation Brewing as participants. Lieutenant Porras warned the committee that vendors serving alcohol will need one-day licenses approved by the Select Board no later than April 13, and estimated six to eight officers may be required. Town Engineer Christine Clancy separately confirmed a contractor has been selected for the boat ramp project, with a summer-fall installation expected, and said a $1.5 million Main Street redesign has no confirmed funding for its first phase.
