Capital panel drafts $1.4 million pitch for town meeting

Pepperell's Capital Program Committee previewed a town meeting pitch built around a $1.4 million capital wish list. Chair David Ganong and members, including remote participant Dylan Sayo, worked from a draft presentation to decide which projects, roofs, generators, a cracked gazebo, need photos for a 10-minute Annual Town Meeting slot in May, with a fuller itemized ask planned for the fall. The panel leaned on last year's fire station renovation, now nearly finished with leftover funds covering a parking lot repave, as its "proof of concept." Ganong said the pitch would stress the request is "not permanent," with the committee comparing a $1 million ask to roughly "$20 a month" per household.

A separate town finance update put the operating budget at a $235,000 deficit and pegged the spring warrant at roughly 30 articles, including nine Community Preservation Committee items to be voted individually, with a possible $100,000 stabilization fund request also in play.
