PEPPERELL — The Capital Program Committee reviewed a $350,000 free cash or stabilization request bound for the Nov. 7 Town Meeting. Town Administrator Andrew MacLean said the Select Board and Finance Committee had advanced the article, which covers town hall painting and roof work, police locker rooms and a public restroom, and a COA generator. The town hall painting base bid is $130,000, and the $87,500 police roof was left out pending state grant work.
The committee also heard that a fire pumper listed at $1.6 million could cost nearer $1.3 million. "Nobody's going to want to hold hands with a 34-year-old pumper," one member said. Members voted to adjourn.
