Boxborough Conservation Commission backs rodenticide ban and plastic bag restrictions for town meeting

BOXBOROUGH — March 18, 2026 — Boxborough Conservation Commission unanimously endorses rodenticide ban and plastic bag restrictions for town meeting warrant. At the March 18 meeting, Chair Liz Markiewicz led a five-member commission through six unanimous votes, including formal recommendations on two proposed general bylaw articles presented by Associate Town Planner Ian Gilson — a ban on rodenticides and a ban on plastic bags — with Markiewicz authorized to draft the commission's written recommendations for both warrant articles. The commission also unanimously issued an amended Order of Conditions for 340 Codman Hill Road under DEP File Number 113-0591, presented by member David Koonce. Agricultural Commission Chair Owen Neville addressed the group on farming on conservation land, and the commission reviewed five town parcels for potential agricultural use in coordination with the Metrowest Conservation Alliance's tenant-matching framework. Rich Grady was the sole absent member.
